Residential Saturation

Here is an open invitation for the developers and their representatives on, and running for, the city council. Why don't you stop building rental units that block the beautiful view from Edgewater, and start building the amentiies that help strenghthen communities? Instead of trying to maximize profits by jamming as many units into each development, why don't you lessen the profit margin and build single family homes with open space near by for kids to play on? Instead of trying to extend the five lane River Road Freeway, work with members of the community to get light rail through Edgewater? Look at places like Boston, San Diego, San Francisco and even Jersey City for crying out loud. Look at the brownstones in New York and other Northeastern cities, or the victorians famous in San Fran. There are plaques on the sides of many of these buildings recognizing the architechs and builders for their contribution to these cities. Do you think anybody is going to treasure the structures you have so far by putting up a plaque recongizing you after your dead and buried? Why don't you build structures that will keep your vision in people's minds one-hundred years from now.
