It is absolutely not true that I did not contact the "Republicans." The day after I was put on the ballot, I saw Gerard Peterson on River Road and asked him if he would support me. He was furious about it.

Phones work two ways. You would think the Republicans would have been thrilled to have a candidate who came within seven votes of beating Bryan in the past. The Republican club has been inactive for a long time.
