In Response To: Re: [ Schools/Education ] EVG--it gets worse! No a (Private School? $ ?)
I always thought after school care was a curtesy. Things happen, people have to adjust their schedules, that's life, especially with kids. Since when has it become the government's responsibility to take care of every little aspect of our lives? Granted, the BOE should have planned better and made sure the construction was completed on time but they didn't and no one should have depended on them to either.
What I'd like to know is, why can private construction whip up a whole new building somewhere in a couple of weeks but this has taken so long? These kids are losing valuable time. Sure, they'll have to make it up somewhere but a disruption in a kid's schedule like this can't be a good thing. Can't some stay-at-home Moms step up and offer to take some kids in for the hours needed for a small sum? What about the school aids? Aren't they out of work right now too? Can't they be put back on the payroll to supervise the kids at the rec center? If not, maybe one or two would be willing to baby sit for some extra cash. Why not give them a call?
