"Unofficial" Republican Mayoral candidate

The article in The Record today says that the official Edgewater Republican Club had decided to sit out the election this year and try to raise money and regroup, and were surprised and upset that Susan Murphy Klamm decided to accept the Republican nomination and never contacted them about her campaign. Is this true?
