As one of the few registered Republicans in town, I'm not sure if a fourth party would help improve Edgewater's deteriorating political landscape, or if it would just add more hostility and negativity. The good news though is that more and more people that I speak with are decidedly not voting straight down a political line whereas local elections are concerned, but instead really looking at the *person* running and not just the party. With that said, I just wish that the new Democratic canDidate Maureen Holtje would have inaugurated her campaign run on this board with details of her platform and intended improvements if elected, instead of a personal assault on Mary Hogan. Right or wrong, no one can dispute that Mary has dedicated much of her time and energy to Edgewater, and many of those years were alongside Neda Rose. I should probably also add that I do know Ms. Holtje personally and work with her on a town Commission, so this is by all means NOT intended an attack, but rather a desire to see candidates, newly and not so newly elected officials, practice compromise and courtesy... and of course, decency and integrity. Alas, Edgewater belongs to all of us...
