Edgewater Trivia

How many of you out there know that the old baseball stadium, the Polo Grounds are buried in Edgewater? That is correct. Back in the 1960's, after the stadium was demolished, Irving Rosenthal bought the rubble for landfill. (Irving was the owner of Palisades Amusement Park). He filled in the propery he owned at the bottom of Dempsey and used it for a parking lot. I can remember truck after truck driving through Edgewater filled with rubble. Also old ticket stubs used to come flying out of the trucks. (I guess covers were not mandatory in those days).
