Did everyone notice the correction posted in the Record concerning the error in Laura Fasbach's report of January 22? The article stated wrongly that" Mayor Christiansen broke a 3-3 tie to introduce a law that makes no mention of the builder's requirement." A copy of the ordinance on afffordable housing was faxed to Laura and a correction appeared on January 24th. However, even the correction is not complete. The measure, which requires that 10 percent of new housing units be set aside for low and moderate income households, would allow developers to provide the affordable housing on site in market priced residential complexes, or off site with the approval of the Borough Council. Missing from the correction is the stipulation that all these units be located within the Borough. In other words no RCA's as feared by certain council persons.
Reporters are often stressed by time and space requirements, and often statements are culled from long conversations, and thus the real intent of the person being interviewed is lost in the printed version.
