Geese Vs. Dogs

Good Day Edgewater,
Here is something of a special interest to myself and I am sure to other Dog owners as well. The date 1/13/03, I took my Golden Retriever for a walk that night to EVG where they used to allow dogs to go and walk while on a leash. Well there is now a “No Dogs Allowed” sign there. I can understand that not everyone picks up after the dogs and the schoolyard is a place that should be kept clean, but I did notice that there was goose dropping around the area. The next day I took my pup to the Edgewater Commons walk, which extends pretty much the length of town, a very nice walk- way to say the least. Along the route as I walk there were geese and geese droppings along the way, I mean everywhere, some places you have to tip toe to avoid getting it on your shoes. As I go around town these days I have noticed that Edgewater has become dog unfriendly, there is no where in this town for a dog to even run or for that matter enjoy some grass under foot. So I looked around, Fort Lee, Leonia, Cliffside all have places to take your dog and let him or her have some fun. Even the New Hoboken has made room, a Dog Park for pets and owners to enjoy and meet others with the passion for their pets.
Our town has a great pet store, they sell dogs, they have room and board and even a web cam to look in on your pet while they spend time there and you are away. But it truly amazes me that we will let hundreds of Geese ruin our pars and walkways and do nothing yet refuse to allow responsible pet owners have a place to let their pets run and enjoy the neighborhood. Ifigured if you let a few dogs run around some of the areas it would keep this problem under control? I was born and raised in the beautiful town, we use to walk our dogs and let the run at the field long ago. Now for some good running room I have to go to another town just to have fun with my dog. It was funny to me that our last trip to Ramapo, were dogs are allowed to run with out a leash and pick up of dropping is controlled by park officials, we found some others from Edgewater with the same concerns as I had. It is a shame that with all the building that is going on in this town we can't even enjoy a little fun with our dogs?
Why have a pet store that sales dog in this town if you can’t even enjoy your pet here? If I am wrong about this can someone tell me where Dogtopia is??
