Multiple Aliases

On 6/19/02, we requested:

"We realize many of you here are passionate in your beliefs, but please use one alias name instead of many. (Of course, it would be better if people used their real names, but some people prefer to post anonymously.) Your neighbors here will listen to and respect your viewpoints just as much coming from one name as they will from many. And if you're using multiple names to make it look like there's a wellspring of support for or against any particular political group or individuals, that's just not fair. So please treat your fellow neighbors here with respect and consideration, and if YOU (single) have a point of view, then please don't feel the need to make it look like there are 20 others with the same point of view (just exaggerating there). Oh, and PLEASE don't pose as somebody else, in the chat room or here. Thanks."

Then on 9/18/02, we again said:

"We agree with Grethel - we're all in favor of posters using their real names. It's easier to tell who the players are with a scorecard. And some posters here even use MULTIPLE alias names ("Think for my self", "Wonder", "Don,t Worry", "One who cares about edgewater", "Oldie", etc.). Please, everyone, if you're not going to use your real name, at least limit your fake identities to one. Your opinion will still be entitled to the weight it deserves, without your having to invent three or four other posters who "agree" with you."

Some posters continue to disregard this simple, twice-repeated request, using multiple names interchangeably. If you would like to share your views with your neighbors and have your messages appear in this forum--and you are too timid to use your real name--please use one alias name. (Or at least log in via different computers so we don't catch you at it!) Thanks.
