Valory, as you know, the problem originated with some anonymous person(s) who abused this board (and the other message board) by deciding to maliciously post messages about private individuals. The existence of a message board doesn't give anyone the right to intentionally try to harm another person's name, reputation, or business--and the law of defamation doesn't stop protecting you or me just because it's an Internet message board rather than a newspaper, a letter, or spoken words. Anyone operating such a message board on their web site should responsibly monitor it. Here at EOL, that also means not letting anyone trash our participating local business people who advertise here. For example, someone anonymously posted messages referencing both Bridge View Bank and Smart Realty, and both messages were removed. As long as people use this message board responsibly, and don't use it to hide behind and say things that they would never dare say to someone's face in person, there should be no problems.
