Isd it a contest or something?

Please don't misunderstand this comment, because I really do love coming to Edgewater. Maybe it is me, and I am used to a more *genteel* atmosphere in South Carolina, but why are so many people so quick to beep their horns at folks here? Tonight I was out at the Commons, and people were beeping their horns at me to go, while pedestrians were crossing the street. Am I supposed to run them over? How many points do you get for knocking down old ladies? We were turning into the Commons from River Road, sitting at a red light in the left hand turn lane. Some people were in the middle of crossing the street when the light turned to the green arrow. It should have been rather obvious that there were people crossing, as there were several people in a group. The car behind me started beeping immediately, as though there was somewhere I could have gone! Earlier, I was beeped at as I was waiting to turn into Leary Lane. I realize I was holding up traffic because I had to make a left and there was oncoming traffic. Am I supposed to get broadsided so somebody can get up the hill faster? In my town, about the only time anyone will use their horn is to acknowledge someone they know in another car, or to warn folks of a hidden police car, etc. Maybe I am just not used to the faster (?) pace here, but it seems in the week I have been here, I have heard horns no less than ten to twelve times (not always at me, or I would really be paranoid by now! LOL!)
