Voting for Independents

Those of you who know me are probably wondering why I am supporting the Independent ticket this year.

I have been a big supporter of developing Edgewater and I think a lot of it is wonderful. Heck, I go to Whole Foods just because it smells so wonderful when you enter. It's great to have a supermarket and other stores nearby not to mention our modern movie theater complex.

However, a few years ago I was at the meeting where a certain developer said that there would be no high rise at the bottom of Dempsey. Okay, I let that go. Then, I was told that that all the development was done. Now, I see more and more development going up day after day. It is running wild. Enough is enough.

Some people are in favor of a ferry. There will be no parking lots and no additional traffic. Well, we were told on numerous occasions that the development would not impact our school system. Ha! The only person who warned us was Mary Hogan. Mary, you were right! That is why I am skeptical about this whole ferry business.

As far as I am concerned, Valory and Manny represent the average person in Edgewater. They care about the town. They are not anti-development but want controlled growth. They are not afraid to take on the establishment and give it a run for its money.
