The Daibes Brothers

We should not be blaming the Daibes for the poor planning and development of our town. They work hard in a tough business to maximize their investments. They can only build what the town approves.

Even though I would have developed this lovely town much differently, the Daibes Brothers have been more reasonable than they were legally required to be. They have done a very nice job with landscaping all of their properties and have not built highrises everywhere they could have. This is not to say I approve of what they have built or will build. It is just to say it could be much worse.

The people responsible for the development of this town are the Mayor and the council members, as well as the board members, who encouraged and approved this mindless development. They are the ones who wasted a rare opportunity to create a wonderful waterfront community from scratch. I am sure the Daibes Brothers would have been willing to produce such a place if the town had insisted.

For those of you who will respond that the town can't insist, please check out the lovely towns that do and have insisted on the best. It is possible. It is legal.
