My maternal grandparents, Caulfields,resided in the 1890's through 1900 in Shadyside before moving up to Guttenburg and West New York. My material grandmother, Madeline Caulfield was born in Bulls Ferry in June 1895. Madeline was one of nine children of Michael and Margaret Bannon Caulfield. One of Madeline's brothers was Matthew Caulfield who married a Margaret Hindra whose parents owned a tavern and house in Edgewater prior to World War I.
My mother, Joan whalen, and my father, John Petrik, grew up in the Weehawken-Guttenberg area. I grew up in Glen Rock, N.J. between 1953 to 1966. I went to Seton Hall University, Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington, N.J.; and later years was employed in Federal Law Enforcement untill I retired in September 1999. From 2003 until present I and my wife have resided in southern Arizona.
